Visid Uamkhan: Filling the gap

Article80 years of Körber

Gaps don't close themselves. Sometimes it takes dedicated colleagues who see these gaps, get involved, and close them. Visid from our location in Bangkok is one of them.

80 years of Körber

When I joined the Körber team in Bangkok three years ago, a new version of our MES software had just been released.

For our customers in pharma and biotech, this system orchestrates and documents complex production processes. For our teams worldwide, every release marks the beginning of a new chapter.
New architecture, new features. And sometimes new challenges.

At that time in Thailand, we did not yet have a local system to install and test the new version ourselves.

But the teams wanted to understand and test the new functionalities.

And I was just getting started myself.

Still, one question stayed with me from day one:
How can I help?

“If you see a gap and believe you can fill it  – start.”

I work in DevOps. My role is to deploy systems – for customers and for internal use. So instead of waiting for a formal request, I listened. I paid attention to what people needed.

I realized there was a gap.
And gaps don’t close themselves.

Together with my team lead, we agreed: this is something we should try to fix.

I was undergoing training in Germany together with another deployment engineer. I asked questions. Many questions. Because I wanted to truly understand.

Experts shared knowledge, pointed me to documentation, and introduced me to the right people.

That was a key moment.

Not because I suddenly knew everything.
But because I had the support to move forward.

Three months later, we had built a working test system.
Learning accelerated – for everyone.

And we didn’t stop there.

“Don’t wait for perfect requirements. Help people learn faster.”

When the next version was released, we followed the same approach.
Today, I’m working on the next step: a demo system that sales and innovation teams can use directly with customers.

Because strong preparation on our side leads to greater clarity on the customer side.

That’s what working at Körber feels like to me.

You don’t wait for perfect requirements.
You see a gap – and if you believe you can fill it, you start.

Not alone.
But supported.

Because here, when you ask for help, people don’t block your way.
They open doors.
