A worldwide pandemic, political conflicts, material shortages: the international developments of the past few weeks and months are posing enormous challenges for global supply chains. This has also had a major impact on pharmaceutical production systems, with a need to further accelerate production and packaging processes. Many companies are rethinking their supplier structures and turning increasingly to local partners. In terms of awarding contracts, it is not only the modularity and scalability of the systems that are decisive for future competitiveness, but also the sustainability and security of the supply chains.

“The demand for machines, especially in terms of handling and packaging solutions, remains high in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, and the needs of our customers are enormous,” says Dr. Jürgen Krebs, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer in the Körber Business Area Pharma. “Many suppliers are frequently facing problems in terms of satisfying a sudden surge in demand."
