Press release

Körber completes sale of its Business Area Tissue

The international technology group Körber completes the sale of its Business Area Tissue to global technology and services company Valmet. The sale was completed with effect from November 2nd, 2023, following approval by the responsible authorities.

By bundling forces of their complementary portfolios in technologies, products, and digital services in tissue making and converting, Körber Business Area Tissue together with its new owner Valmet will be able to offer a unique customer value proposition. The Business Area will be renamed and rebranded within Valmet’s paper business line.

Stephan Seifert, CEO of the Körber Group, says: “Through continuous strategic development, targeted investments, and the dedicated commitment of its employees, our Business Area Tissue already today is in an excellent position and will be able to further expand its potential, offering, and reach with Valmet as its new committed owner, who will accelerate our efforts to date. At the same time, Körber continues and stays fully dedicated to strengthening its other Business Areas and pursue its organic and inorganic growth strategy.”

Oswaldo Cruz, CEO of Körber Business Area Tissue, says: “Our technologies, products, and digital services complement Valmet’s competencies and portfolio of tissue making technologies, services, and automation. Valmet has profound market expertise, a strong customer focus, and extensive experience in integrating additional competencies. We are very pleased that in Valmet, we have found the ideal partner for our employees, customers, and suppliers to further leverage the full potential of our tissue business in the future.”

Pasi Laine, President and CEO of Valmet, says: “Today we are happy to welcome the market leader in tissue converting and its dedicated colleagues to Valmet. The acquisition is a good strategic fit and complements Valmet’s tissue making offering with strong expertise and complete solutions from tissue converting to packaging. By entering the tissue converting business, we take again a step forward with strengthened capabilities to serve our global customers even better.”

Körber will in the future support Valmet and the tissue industry as an ecosystem partner through offerings of its other Business Areas e.g. with palletizing solutions from its Business Area Supply Chain. With ventures like FactoryPal, Körber will further advance its strong stance in complementary digital solutions to boost manufacturing efficiency – for the tissue industry and beyond.
