Nur Syafiqah Alias, Körber site: Shah Alam, Malaysia
My story starts with a decision that didn’t fit expectations.
In Malaysia, after secondary school, the expected path leads straight to university.
Dual vocational training was rarely considered a real alternative.
When the GDVT (German Dual Vocational Training) program was introduced in 2014, it was still something entirely new.
I joined the second batch of the Industrial Management course.
I made this decision for a reason:
I wanted an education that allowed me to grow without burdening my parents.
I wanted real experience early on.
And I wanted to prove that a different path could still lead somewhere meaningful.
The decision wasn’t easy.
People around me were skeptical. I was unsure myself.
Before applying, I spoke to a former classmate who was part of the program’s first batch. She said:
“If you commit to this and make it work, your parents will be proud of you.”
That was enough.
The interview was intimidating.
A long journey. A new city. All in English.
I was young, nervous – and still, I went.
Because sometimes confidence comes after the decision, not before it.
Joining Körber changed my perspective.
I learned quickly that success isn’t about being the smartest person in the room.
It’s about attitude. Curiosity. Willingness to learn.
Today, I’m a Group Manager in HR & GDVT in Malaysia.
