Since December 2023, Körber Technologies has been employing advanced warehouse technology to automatically store and retrieve various raw materials and flavors for our customers within a 350 m² facility.
Planning for this innovative warehouse began back in 2019. Along with the storage area, a goods labeling room and a CO2 extinguishing system were also installed, showcasing the latest in warehouse technology.
In the summer of 2023, the new automated high-rack warehouse was successfully tested and, after final testing, went into regular operation in December. This state-of-the-art facility ensures real-time tracking and management of our warehouse operations.
We received significant support from the Körber Business Area Supply Chain in implementing this project and the software for the high-rack technology. The warehouse has been built exclusively by companies of the Körber Group.
What can the new high-bay warehouse do?
What can the new high-bay warehouse do?
With a capacity of 500 euro-pallets, it offers sufficient space for the storage of raw materials as well as for the finished goods produced for our valued customers.
Prior to storage, all products are carefully recorded in the IT system, classified according to storage hazard classes and given a barcode. The conveyor system integrated into the high-rack warehouse consists of various components. For example, roller/chain conveyors, a lifting table, a shuttle vehicle and a vertical conveyor are responsible for moving the goods.
The goods are checked by a scanner and scales to ensure that they comply with the relevant weights and dimensions. A smooth flow within the warehouse building is therefore guaranteed and the implementation of chaotic storage in our high-bay warehouse also ensures optimum space utilization, highlighting the efficiency of our warehouse technology.
As part of the installation of the new warehouse, our employees received extensive training, as only authorized specialist personnel are granted access to the high-bay warehouse for maintenance and repair purposes.
The ability to store three different pallet sizes makes the high-bay warehouse extremely flexible. As a result, costs can be saved for outsourced pallets at forwarding companies.
