Fast and flexible against Covid-19

Catalent, the world’s leading development and manufacturing partner, is working on dozens of COVID-19-related programs, including vaccines and therapeutics. In this race against time, Catalent found a partner with proven experience, Körber’s Business Area Pharma. The top loading experts from Switzerland succeeded in providing a packaging machine that not only perfectly meets the customer’s high demands, but also could be installed in record time at Catalent’s site in Bloomington, Indiana.

In order to be able to meet the enormous quantities and ambitious production schedules requested by its customers, Catalent specifically turned to Körber’s Swiss top load experts in its search for a partner. Catalent required a high-speed packaging machine, which would ensure a compact packaging design and at the same time provide a high level of product protection.

Catalent confirmed the purchase of the top load cartoner from Körber in a press release in spring 2020. The Körber team immediately began work on the Dividella NeoTOP 1604. Just a few months after receiving the order, the Dividella NeoTOP 1604 was already on its way to Catalent’s facility in the U.S.

High speed: The topload experts from Körber needed less than 30 days from machine acceptance testing (FAT) in Switzerland to the start of installation in the U.S.

Due to the pandemic and the associated travel restrictions, the machine acceptance test (Factory Acceptance Test – FAT) was carried out remotely using live streams, and the machine was shipped to the U.S. by air cargo within a few days.

Körber’s local service team in the U.S., which can maintain and install complete packaging lines at customer sites, ensured that a total of less than 30 days elapsed between FAT in Switzerland and the start of installation of the machine at Catalent.

The entire Körber team is particularly grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate its competency and deliver the NeoTOP solution for the demanding requirements of this high-profile application. Above all, it is another step to bringing the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic to an end.
