Annually, Körber-Stiftung, sole shareholder of Körber AG, honors outstanding researchers in Europe for important breakthroughs in the fields of life sciences and physical sciences. This year, the prestigious prize goes to computer scientist Stephanie Wehnert for her work on the quantum internet.

Stephanie Wehner, winner of the Körber Prize

German computer scientist and quantum physicist Stephanie Wehner has received this year's Körber European Science Prize. Awarded annually by Körber-Stiftung and being worth one million euros, the Körber Prize recognizes her groundbreaking work on the quantum internet—an ultra-fast and extremely secure computer network that will enable entirely new applications and computing possibilities.

Since 1985, Körber-Stiftung has awarded the Körber Prize each year to recognize an important breakthrough in the fields of physical sciences and life sciences in Europe. The prize is awarded for excellent and forward-looking research approaches with high application potential. To date, eight Körber Prize winners have gone on to receive the Nobel Prize.
