Körber's new building in Hamburg: Mayor Tschentscher visits construction site in Bergedorf Innovation Park

To mark the start of construction work on the new site for Körber's Business Area Technologies, the First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Dr. Peter Tschentscher, visited the construction site in the future Bergedorf Innovation Park. Completion of the new Körber building in Hamburg is already planned for the end of 2026.

With a visit by Hamburg's First Mayor Tschentscher to the large construction site in the Bergedorf Innovation Park, Körber heralded the start of building construction work for the “Körber-Neubau Hamburg” on Thursday. Tschentscher, Bergedorf District Administrator Cornelia Schmidt-Hoffmann, and around 70 invited guests visited the site to get a first impression of the future headquarters of Körber's Business Area Technologies in the east of Hamburg.

Stephan Seifert, CEO and Chairman of the Group Executive Board of Körber, added: “At well over 200 million euros, the new Körber building in Hamburg is the largest single investment in Körber's history. This is a clear commitment to Germany as a business location, to Hamburg, and to our origins in Bergedorf, where the company founded by Kurt A. Körber in 1946 has its roots.” Seifert thanked Mayor Tschentscher, Head of the Senate Chancellery Jan Pörksen, and District Administrator Schmidt-Hoffmann: “Without your commitment and support, the new building at this important location for Körber would not have been possible.”

The new Körber building in Hamburg will bring together the previous locations of Körber Technologies GmbH on Kurt A. Körber Chaussee and Weidenbaumsweg in Hamburg-Bergedorf and in Schwarzenbek in Schleswig-Holstein to form the headquarters of the Business Area. The modern and sustainable complex is being built less than two kilometers away from the previous location in Bergedorf and comprises almost 50,000 square meters of building space, which will house administration, development, production, and logistics in accordance with the latest standards. With the new building, Körber is combining modern working environments, digital processes, and sustainable construction in one place.

Visited the construction site of the new Körber building in Hamburg: Dr. Peter Tschentscher, Stephan Seifert, Arungalai Anbarasu, Dr. Stefan Hofmann (CFO at Körber Business Area Technologies).

“We are not only creating space for modern working here, but also sending a strong signal for innovation, sustainability, and forward-looking production and development processes,” said Arungalai Anbarasu, responsible for the Business Area Technologies on the Group Executive Board. She expressed particular gratitude to the project team for their dedicated work over the past months and is already looking forward to the completion at the end of 2026: “The new building will take the Business Area Technologies into the future and will hopefully lay the foundation for another 80 years of successful innovations made in Germany,” said Anbarasu.

Hamburg's First Mayor Dr. Peter Tschentscher: “With the new Körber building, the Bergedorf Innovation Park is gaining one of Germany's most modern industrial properties – a model of sustainability and efficiency. Through Körber Technologies' cooperation with other companies and research institutes in the Innovation Park, scientific findings and good ideas can be turned into new products. Bergedorf and Körber are thus giving a strong boost to Hamburg's innovative momentum. I would like to thank everyone who has supported this important investment for Bergedorf and the whole of Hamburg, and wish Körber AG every success at its new location.”

While Körber's new building will gradually become more visible over the coming months, plans are also underway for the use of the current site on Kurt A. Körber Chaussee after the move to the Innovation Park in 2027. Körber is in constructive talks with both the city of Hamburg and the district of Bergedorf regarding the further development of the “Hauni Quarter.”
